How has your experience been with Lucinda May Photography?
We really enjoyed our time with Lucinda. She was very professional but also unobtrusive. Our photos are the natural, bright images we were after.
Would you recommend Lucinda May Photography to friends?
Yes
What beautiful products did you invest in from Lucinda May Photography and why?
Still deciding! Will likely purchase an album.
Can you give any tips for couples on how to prepare for the wedding photos?
Make sure you know what kind of images you are after and that you request these either before the day or on the day – no point staying silent and regretting not getting a picture you want. At the same time, be open to your photographers ideas and direction, they are the professionals, after all. Most of all, just try and have fun.
How did you two love birds meet?
Through work essentially. Genevieve was a Ministerial Adviser who working in the Status of Women portfolio at the same time Arman was embarking on his community advocacy work. We used to see each other at events everywhere – in the beginning we both thought the other was very quiet and serious, which couldn’t be further from the truth. We still stayed in touch occasionally after I changed jobs and a couple of years later ran into each other at the Royal Adelaide Show. After some flirting, Arman slid into Genevieve’s DM’s to organise a catch up and the rest is history…
Who popped the question and how did it happen? Was it a surprise? Spill…
Arman popped the question on 2 January 2019. It was a regular work day, we just just returned after the Christmas break. After dinner we returned home and Arman presented Genevieve with a bunch of mail he had collected from his PO Box, he often saved him mail for Genevieve to open because he knows how much she loved opening mail. In the stack was a letter and when Genevieve opened it the piece of paper inside said ‘Will you marry me?’ By the time Genevieve turned around, Arman was on one knee with a ring. The actual proposal was a big surprise (who expects an engagement on a work day?) but we had been talking about getting married for awhile.
How long was your engagement & how long did you have to plan your wedding and did you plan the wedding yourself?
Our engagement was about 10 months – we were very keen to get married within the year. We planned the whole wedding ourselves (well, Genevieve was slightly more involved being the control freak she is but Arman had definite thoughts about things too). We wanted our wedding most of all to be a reflection of us as a couple and in the end it was a beautiful mix of culture and family which represented the both of us.
Were you nervous walking down the aisle?
I had a slight dress malfunction as i was leaving for the church which caused a couple of minutes of stress, luckily my beautiful mum and bridesmaids were all over it. I remember wanting to get to the church because I didn’t want Arman to be waiting – I am always on time and wasn’t going to be late even as a bride.
As I started walking down the aisle, I remember talking a big breath and consciously remembering to take in the moment. No nerves, I was just ready to get down the end to where Arman was waiting.
What was your favourite moment(s) from your beautiful wedding day?
Our favourite moments were the ones that were representative of is as a couple – the ceremony where Pastor Josh was able to joke about our competitiveness extending into our pre-marriage counselling, the party limo with the whole bridal party on the way to the reception, our entrance dance to ‘Crazy in Love’. or first dance to ‘At Last’ by Ella Fitzgerald and the Persian drums kicking off our dance floor.
We mostly loved that we were surrounded and supported by people important to us and we could feel their love.
How would you describe your overall wedding day experience?
The best! It was so much fun and filled with love. What more could we ask for?
What advice would you offer to other couples planning a wedding?
Be organised and fuss about your choices and vendors but also be willing to trust them. Don’t chose vendors who you don’t think you can rely on because at the end of the day, you can’t control the day and you need people you can trust. Support local and small businesses. Genevieve was very keen to support particularly women as part of her wedding, and as a result had some amazing female vendors who produced incredible work.
Where did you escape to for your honeymoon? Would you recommend it to other couples?
We honeymooned in Hong Kong and then the Maldives. It was the perfect mix of a touristy holiday and then total relaxation. If you can’t go to the Maldives on your honeymoon, when can you?
