Dani + Brad | Adelaide Photographer

Tell me how you two met?
Well, we met at Bunnings (where I work) Brad is a plumber and he was needing some help finding items so we just started chatting and then he asked me did I want to grab some lunch so I spent my break with him and we just hit it off! We made plans to see each other again and it turned out he lived around the corner and we’ve been pretty much inseparable since!
What hooked you in what was the moment you decided they were the one?
Dani- I’m not sure of the exact moment but I knew the very first time we met that Brad was different. There was something about him that made me truly always want to be around him. He has this way of making me feel so comfortable & he makes me laugh. The more time we spent together, the more I realised how much I loved him & that love just continues to grow each day, the more I get to know him. I didn’t really make a conscious decision that he was the one- after being together it just could never have been anyone else.

Brad- Looking into Dani’s eyes and seeing the excitement that very first ‘lunch date’ and even though it was a bit awkward at first I knew she would play a part in my life. I knew she was the one not just at one specific moment but over many moments like when she came out fishing for the fist time and put herself way out of her comfort zone for me. And the way she is always looking after me no matter what, always being by my side- sleeping in the hospital over night just to be there for me. I didn’t know what it meant to be loved and to love someone so much until I met Dani.
Who proposed? Tell me the story, was it a huge surprise? Tell me everything 🙂
This one is a long story haha Brad proposed and it did end up being a complete surprise! We had been discussing our future quite a bit and when we were going to get married and we settled on our date before we were technically engaged haha so I knew it was coming so I kept saying when can I tell people I know when we are getting married and he was like I want to propose properly! So it was a few weeks until my birthday so Brad told me (cos I wasn’t giving up I wanted to tell everyone I was so excited) that he would propose officially on my birthday so I was like okay I can wait.. Anyway that weekend we went away camping down to Kakadu National Park here in the NT and we climbed to the top of Gunlom waterfall. We had a picnic packed (he had hidden the ring in the pack) and when we got to the top Brad started filming the location and then he got down on one knee and proposed! Meanwhile I had a mouth full of cheese because I really wasn’t expecting it haha! And I also didn’t realise at the time he was filming it for my dad who Brad had asked earlier in the year to marry me and my dad asked him to film the proposal which was really sweet! It was a beautiful day and I’m so glad he did end up catching me off guard because it was just so incredibly thoughtful and fun- and a mouth full of cheese made the video hilarious!
Who chose the ring? Was that a surprise? Was the size right – haha?
I chose the ring and we went shopping together so no surprises there!
Why did you want engagement photos? Why is this important to you?
Engagement photos aren’t something we would’ve chosen normally; it came in our wedding package which not many other photographers had so we took that as a bonus and we are both so incredibly glad we had them!! It was so good to be there together with Lucinda and all get to meet and see what it’s like to be in front of a camera! We definitely felt very nervous and awkward and so glad we had this experience before our day so we know what to expect! And to get more comfortable being in front of a camera and working with Lucinda was great!
Is there a story surrounding the location you had your photos taken at? Significance? Proposal?
There isn’t any real significance in the location of our engagement session- we live in the N.T so no real attachment as we hadn’t been there before. The location we picked were from a handful of suggestions from Lucinda, we both liked the background the most so went with that one!
Do you have any tips for other couples preparing for their engagement session?
Probably just to relax and trust that Lucinda will work her magic and the photo’s will turn out great haha
