J+G | Adelaide Hills Wedding Photographer

I was so excited when Georgia and Jackson got in touch with me about their Adelaide Hills wedding at Maximillian’s and asked me to be their photographer. Georgia was recently a bridesmaid in another wedding of mine (Jo and Mitch) and I just love being invited back to photograph loved ones weddings. It’s gotta mean that I am doing something right!

Seeing all the familiar faces is so wonderful and of course catching up with my past brides and grooms.

Here is a few words from Georgia and Jackson about their wedding day experience:

How has your experience been with Lucinda May Photography?
Lucinda has been amazing to work with! She is such a lovely and easy going person who makes you feel so comfortable and relaxed in front of the camera. Lucinda was the wedding photographer for a wedding I was in a couple of years ago and I knew after meeting her that I would have her as my wedding photographer when I got married.
Why would you recommend Lucinda May Photography to friends?
100% we would and already have since we had our engagement photoshoot done.  She gets the most amazing natural photos!
Can you give any tips for couples on how to prepare for the wedding photos?
I think that having the engagement photoshoot done was a really good preparation for what to expect for us. My Husband and I do not like having our photos taken and don’t really take any together so it was really good practice for us in front of the camera so we knew what to do on the special day.
How did you two love birds meet?
Jackson and I’s first real encounter was at a basketball stadium when we were 15/16. We were talking before the game and then he thought it would be a funny idea to hide my basketball shoes around the stadium before my game. After I was able to find them I threw an empty bottle at his head for revenge. From there we became really close friends until later that year we started dating.
Who popped the question and how did it happen? Was it a surprise? Spill…
Jackson did around the end of 2018. Jackson’s Grandma won free accommodation in Moonta and she wasn’t able to go so she gave us the trip. I thought before we went that maybe it could happen on this weekend away?.. That quickly changed after we arrived as the accommodation was terrible, dirty and run down. We had an older couple next door to us who argued the whole time we were there and a netball trip who were partying. After all of that Jackson proposed to me in a park, almost kneeling in bird poo holding the ring upside down. It definitely took me by surprise! After bursting into tears and saying yes we sat at a park bench for almost an hour, again it was covered in bird poo so I could compose myself and call my family. Its such a funny story to look back on but also absolutely perfect and so us.  I wouldn’t change a thing about that weekend.
How long was your engagement & how long did you have to plan your wedding and did you plan the wedding yourself?
16 months. I planned the whole wedding but still got advice from Jackson, my mum and friends who had been married.
Were you nervous walking down the aisle?
An excited nervous. I just couldn’t wait to see Jackson and finally be married to him at Maximillian’s!
What was your favourite moment(s) from your beautiful wedding day?
Its so hard to choose! I do think some of our favourite parts would be seeing each other for the first time, being pronounced as Husband and Wife and our first dance.
How would you describe your overall wedding day experience?
Perfect and surreal! It literally feels like a dream and it goes so fast. We wish we could live it all over again.
What advice would you offer to other couples planning a wedding?
Definitely easier said than done but try not to stress about everything, just enjoy the whole experience of planning your special day with your partner. No matter what happens on the day you are getting to marry the love of your life and start your future together and that’s all that really matters .
Where did you escape to for your honeymoon? Would you recommend it to other couples?
We went to Bali but unfortunately due to COVID we didn’t get to enjoy our honeymoon as much as we hoped and had to do a 14 day quarantine.
