How has your experience been with Lucinda May Photography?
Working with Lucinda was amazing! We had already seen her work from Justine (Aaron’s sister) wedding the year before and loved her style. Upon meeting Lucinda we immediately felt at ease, as she was so down to earth and made us feel comfortable from day one. Leading up to the wedding was quite stressful due to high heat and bushfires nearby however Lucinda was happy to work with the changes that we made in order to make our wedding a success!
Why would you recommend Lucinda May Photography to friends?
Absolutely – I have her business cards and will definitely be handing them to all my friends upon their engagements!  So many people who have looked at our photos have commented on Lucinda’s talent!
What beautiful products did you invest in from Lucinda May Photography and why?
We received our beautiful wooden box with the USB of our photos and some prints. We will be looking to get some large prints ordered to hang up in our home as Lucinda’s smaller prints were of amazing quality!
Can you give any tips for couples on how to prepare for the wedding photos?
To be honest we didn’t really have to prepare at all! We had one face to face meeting and then leading up to the wedding we communicated with Lucinda via e-mail. On the day we just rocked up to our venue and Lucinda was already there. We did not feel like we needed to prepare for the photos in anyway because Lucinda put us at ease very quickly!
How did you two love birds meet?
We met at a bus stop in the city! Aaron recognised me as the employee who works at the bakery across from the Woolworths he worked and asked for my name! His next shift he came up to me and asked for my number. We have been together ever since.
Who popped the question and how did it happen? Was it a surprise? Spill…
Aaron popped the question at sunset after having a picnic dinner at Semaphore. He stood up and got on one knee. It was very romantic and I was totally surprised.
How long was your engagement & how long did you have to plan your wedding and did you plan the wedding yourself?
Our engagement was just over a year! We started planning the wedding straight away as we had been told things get booked well in advanced. We did plan the wedding all by ourselves and tried to support small local businesses, particularly the ones that were eco-conscious! We tried to make eco-friendly choices throughout our wedding planning as we are aware weddings can create lots of waste.
Were you nervous walking down the aisle?
I was not really nervous but super excited and a little bit emotional because I was to be marrying the love of my life!
What was your favourite moment(s) from your beautiful wedding day?
I loved every moment from our wedding. Walking down the aisle was very surreal as I could not believe that all my life had lead to this moment where I got to marry Aaron. Having all our friends and family being there to witness our marriage was super special (particularly as many guests traveled interstate and from NZ to be there for our special day).
How would you describe your overall wedding day experience?
The actual lead up to the wedding on the day was stressful due to the heat and bushfires but we were so lucky that 15 minutes before I walked down the aisle, the temperature dropped significantly and it even rained! The wedding itself was perfect (even though it was not what we had initially planned) and that was all thanks to our amazing suppliers who went above and beyond to make sure we could enjoy our night! We laughed so much and it was great to be able to celebrate our marriage with our loved ones! Also having such a beautiful venue (Al Ru farm) meant that guests could enjoy the garden whilst eating their canapés whilst we were getting our photos done (i.e. no waiting around between ceremony and reception!).
What advice would you offer to other couples planning a wedding?
Try and enjoy every moment because it goes so quickly!
Invest in suppliers who you trust (i.e. Lucinda) as then you will not be stressed on the day as you can trust they will do their job to a high standard.
Don’t be swayed by everyone’s opinions on how the wedding should be. Go with your own decisions because the wedding should be about you!
Don’t stress the things you cannot change. In our case, it was the weather and even though we did everything we could do (fans, cold towels, water, etc) I was still super stressed. Looking back, I wish I did not stress so much about this as everything ended up being perfect!
Accept help from those who offer it on the week of the wedding! You might want to do it all by yourself but there is a lot to do so when people offer it is okay to say yes.
Try and make eco-friendly choices in order to reduce waste created on your day. For example, consider if certain items are really necessary for you. We decided togo without bonbonniere and flowers on tables as that was not something we thought was necessary for our wedding.
Where did you escape to for your honeymoon? Would you recommend it to other couples?
We went on a P&O cruise on the Pacific Aria ship around the Vanuatu and New Caledonia Islands. It was a beautiful relaxing holiday and we still got the element of adventure when exploring the islands! 100% recommend to anyone who has not gone cruising before as it turns out to be very cost effective and extremely fun! Word of warning: you will end up eating your weight in food!
