How has your experience been with Lucinda May Photography?
Our experience working with Lucinda has been nothing but positive. We originally had another photographer organised for our wedding, but they had to pull out due to COVID. Lucinda was very helpful and supportive when we met her for the first time not too long before our wedding date and we are both overjoyed with the beautiful photos she has done for us. She was also a big help and a calming presence on the day itself.
Why would you recommend Lucinda May Photography to friends?
I would recommend Lucinda to my friends and any other future brides in a heartbeat!
Can you give any tips for couples on how to prepare for the wedding photos?
I would say just try and relax as much as possible and try to loosen up a bit. Lucinda is very good at making you feel relaxed on the day and has some very clever and funny tricks to get you laughing and smiling for some gorgeous photos.
How did you two love birds meet?
We met online in late 2013 when we both lived in Brisbane then we moved down to Adelaide together at the start of 2017.
Who popped the question and how did it happen? Was it a surprise?
The proposal itself was not a surprise, but the timing was. We designed and bought the ring together, then a few months later Sam officially proposed by cooking a fantastic dinner and tying the ring to our cat’s collar.
How long was your engagement & how long did you have to plan your wedding and did you plan the wedding yourself?
We intended to have a quite a short engagement, we got engaged in April 2019 and immediately set a date for the wedding in May 2020 in the Adelaide Hills which we had to postpone due to COVID to October 2020. Most of the planning was done by us (and by us I mean me, the bride).
Were you nervous walking down the aisle?
Not at all, I chose to walk down the aisle with my new husband and it was beautiful being able to share that moment in the forest with him before we got married.
What was your favourite moment(s) from your beautiful wedding day?
I really enjoyed our First Look wedding photo shoot in the Adelaide Hills and I highly recommend it to other brides who really care about getting as many beautiful photos as possible but are worried about it taking up too much time. It was a lot of fun and a great way to connect with each other before the ceremony. My favourite photos of our wedding are from our First Look.
How would you describe your overall wedding day experience?
It sounds cliche, but I would describe the day as perfect and full of love. Everything went so smoothly and we got lots of compliments on the relaxed and romantic atmosphere. I barely slept the night before because I was so anxious but as soon as the big day started I knew that I had planned as much as I could in advance and that I was in good hands with the vendors I had chosen. I was on a high for days after the wedding, which was only boosted moreso when I got my sneak peek photos from Lucinda the next day!
What advice would you offer to other couples planning a wedding?
Try not to sweat the small stuff. We had a lot go wrong while planning our wedding, and so much of our original plans drastically changed due to factors beyond our control. Planning did get quite stressful, but I found that on the day itself I genuinely stopped caring about all the smaller finer details because I was too excited to get married to my now husband.
Where did you escape to for your honeymoon? Would you recommend it to other couples?
We went to Port Douglas in Far North Queensland for a week straight after the wedding and had a wonderful time. We stayed in a resort in a “swim up” room that accessed the pool. We went scuba diving, went to a crocodile farm, ate fantastic food, went to the stunning Four Mile Beach and even swam in a waterfall. I very highly recommend Port Douglas as a honeymoon destination within Australia.
