How has your experience been with Lucinda May Photography?
Lucinda has been wonderful to work with, she is professional and responds to communication in a timely manner. Lucinda has a great ability to capture special moments, it has been amazing to look through our wedding photographs and see that she was able to ‘snap’ that smile from the father of the bride, or the laughter of a friend during a speech. What surprised us was that we often forgot that Lucinda was there (in a good way), we never felt like she got in the way or was demanding too much of our time or attention, we were instead able to focus on enjoying ourselves and spending time celebrating with our friends and family. She is incredibly polite and positive all while effectively directing people with what they need to do, keeping the day flowing.
Why would you recommend Lucinda May Photography to friends?
We would recommend Lucinda for her photography style. Her photographs are timeless, they are natural, soft and romantic – incredibly flattering. She is also great to work with and her turn around for editing the photographs is very quick, so you don’t feel like you are waiting around long!
What beautiful products did you invest in from Lucinda May Photography and why?
We purchased the 7 hour coverage and chose for Lucinda to photograph the ceremony and the reception. This package also included a engagement photo session, which gave us the opportunity to meet Lucinda, see her process and feel a bit more relaxed in front of the camera. Only a few weeks after the wedding the photographs arrived on a USB in a gorgeous wooden box. Lucinda had also put a printed selection of photographs in the box.
Can you give any tips for couples on how to prepare for the wedding photos?
Definitely do a pre-wedding (engagement) photo shoot, it will help you relax and understand the expectations for the wedding day. Make sure you smile during the ceremony – and remind your bridal party to smile as well. But above all, relax and have fun with it! Our favourite photographs are the ones where we are laughing or smiling naturally and enjoying the company, not worrying about the camera.
How did you two love birds meet?
We met at work and were friends/co-workers for a few years. At Michelangelo’s 30th birthday party, there was a romantic spark, so we went on a date and discovered that we would make an awesome couple!
Who popped the question and how did it happen? Was it a surprise? Spill…
Mich popped the question while we were on holiday at the beautiful Wine Glass Bay in Tasmania. It was a complete surprise – Michelle had no idea! The holiday continued for another couple of days, which was a great time to share our dreams for the future and just be the two of us, before the chaos of celebrating and planning started at our return to Adelaide.
How long was your engagement & how long did you have to plan your wedding and did you plan the wedding yourself?
We were engaged for 12 months and started planning seriously from 10 months prior. We planned the wedding ourselves – it was a lot of work! We hosted the reception at Michelle’s parent’s property – we hired a marquee, tables, chairs, glassware, crockery etc and hand made decorations and signage. It was definitely worth it, everything was very personal and all our guests really appreciated how unique the event was and how much effort we put into it. We would do it again in a heartbeat!
Were you nervous walking down the aisle?
As I (Michelle) was walking down the aisle, I was experiencing a lot of emotions. I was nervous waiting at the door to enter the church, but once I started walking I felt excited and happy. It was great to look around and see all the people I cared about in one room and to look at the end of aisle to see Mich waiting for me there. Happy tears.
What was your favourite moment(s) from your beautiful wedding day?
One of our favourite moments was during the song The Horses (Darryl Braithwaite) we were both picked up by our friends and lifted in the air. That was a lot of fun!
How would you describe your overall wedding day experience?
Hands down the best day of ours lives! It was so much fun and having everyone we care about in the one place celebrating with us was incredible. It was very special and unique to us as a couple, a day we will not forget
What advice would you offer to other couples planning a wedding?
Don’t forget to enjoy being engaged, it is an amazing period in your life. Don’t just talk about the wedding when you are together, instead talk about being married and how much fun that is going to be.
Where did you escape to for your honeymoon? Would you recommend it to other couples?
We went to the Seychelles. It was relaxing and beautiful. Definitely recommend having your honeymoon there, accommodation was reasonably priced, weather was lovely and the beaches are stunning Make sure you choose a destination that gives you space to wind down, you have just had a busy period and deserve a break and time one of one with your spouse.
